Rhona and the former streetchildren

Rhona I got to know four years ago. She works in Kampala with street children, orphans and supports some women with children who have been left by her men. The project house "New Jerusalem" has moved, and as it is bigger now, they can also take girls. 





At the moment there are 7 girl and 16 boys living in New Jerusalem. The past of most of the girls is really sad - most of them were abused, all of them have been very young at that time. But it is good to see, how well

they are doing, once they are in the project. All of them have dolls, and they like to look after them! And me right in the middle, me, who has never ever played with dolls... And now I am Mama Muzungu, the white mama for the boys, girls and the dolls....

Some of the older boys I got to know four years back are still there. This was a great reunion. Rhona can be really proudly of them - school, education, and occupation, one of them just recently married. This is what they are looking for - just a normal life with school, a job, family, some stability and health. Just, what everybody wants. For a street child a dream like that can be hardly realized. But with projects like that, at least some of them can realize their dream!
